Stop & Shop PIN Thief Sentenced

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Authorities here last week sentenced Michael Stepanian to six years in prison for his part in a scheme to steal customer PIN numbers at area Stop & Shop stores. Stepanian was among four men charged in February with stealing around $132,000 by swapping the PIN pads in at least six different Stop & Shop stores with a device that recorded credit and debit card information. The other three men received sentences ranging from five to six years, reports said.
