C&K Adds Two Stores

BROOKINGS, Ore. — C&K Market here said it is acquiring two stores — in Corvallis and Drain, Ore. — that will be converted to the Ray's Food Place banner next month.

The store just south of Corvallis is the former Philomath Thriftway, which is scheduled to reopen after renovations on Aug. 8. The Drain store is the former Select Market, which is set to reopen on Aug. 16 after some changes to decor.

"The community of Philomath is a natural fit with our company's core competencies of quality, service and local offerings," said Alan Nidiffer, executive vice president. He said Drain is a rural town with deep roots in the logging industry, and C&K intends to be a neighborhood market to the towns of Drain, Yoncolla and Elkton.

C&K operates 62 supermarkets and 13 pharmacies in Oregon and Northern California.
