Country Star Sings at Brookshire’s to Honor Vets

TYLER, Texas — Country music star Trace Adkins appeared at a Brookshire’s Grocery store here Thursday to give a celebrity sendoff to World War II veterans who won a Brookshire’s-sponsored trip to Washington.

Adkins appeared at the store to sing the National Anthem to honor the 33 veterans before they left on a flight to visit the World War II memorial in Washington. After the veterans departed, Adkins signed autographs and was present during an in-store sampling of Hightower’s Country Smoked Sausage, of which Adkins serves as brand spokesman.

This was Brookshire’s fourth annual WWII Heroes Flight, which awards veterans a free trip to Washington to visit the World War II memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and other sites.
