SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets on Thursday said it would build its first new store that meets LEED certification standards from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Fogelsville, Pa., store, currently under construction, is expected to measurably reduce or mitigate its environmental impact for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selection and indoor environmental quality, Weis said.
The store will also incorporate advanced refrigeration technologies to reduce refrigerant emissions by 60% compared to the typical supermarket.
