Video: Kroger official says suppler diversity 'makes good business sense'

“Retailers focus on supplier diversity because it makes good business sense,” says Denise R. Thomas, director of corporate supplier diversity, The Kroger Co. A panelist on FMI Connect’s workshop “Impacting Sales: A Holistic Approach to Supplier Diversity in the Food Retail Industry,” she said, “We believe [supplier diversity” gives us a competitive advantage because minority-owned, women-owned businesses provide products, services and perspectives that are aligned with our strategies and help us to better understand both our customer needs and the different trends in the marketplace.” Thomas was interviewed by SN Editor-in-Chief David Orgel and Supermarket Guru Phil Lempert. Her workshop is scheduled for 4 to 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at McCormick Place S105b.
