Wal-Mart, P&G Construct 'Tour of London' Display

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif. — A 535-square-foot London re-creation complete with landmarks is being sponsored by Procter & Gamble at a Wal-Mart here in celebration of the Olympic Games.

The display includes a 21-foot Big Ben with a working clock that chimes every 15 minutes; a replica of the London Eye that stands 18 feet and rotates just like the world’s largest observation wheel; and two 8-foot, double-decker buses featuring front window-mounted television screens airing P&G Olympic Games-themed commercials.

Tour of London includes 25 pallets worth of Olympic-branded P&G products and educational maps featuring facts about the landmarks for self-guided tours. It will remain through Aug. 10.

“The display celebrates our dedicated athletes and creates a unique in-store shopping event that customers will remember for years to come,” said Stuart Heflin, P&G’s brand manager for the Walmart Global Consumer Team, in a statement. “P&G is behind the Olympic Games and our athletes 100%. We want to give people who can’t travel to Europe the opportunity to feel some of the excitement of the Games here at home.”
