FAIRFIELD, Ohio — Jungle Jim's International Market has dropped plans to build a second location.

The 285,000-square-foot grocery store here known for its expansive food selection and theatrical presentations was to have leased space for a second location in Oakley, Ohio's $100 million Millworks project, tentatively scheduled to open as soon as this summer.

“For us it just wasn't the right timing,” Phil Adams, Jungle Jim's development director, told SN last week, adding that the company is “really not looking to open another store.”

Jungle Jim's this winter opened an event center on the second floor of its supermarket, which sits on a 60-acre site here, and is planning to add a monorail this summer to shuttle event attendees back and forth to the venue. In addition, the supermarket is also planning to add a hotel.
