Ice cream sold at Walmart, Giant Eagle, has been recalled

Products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

Totally Cool, Inc., which supplies ice cream to retailers like Walmart and Giant Eagle, has recalled multiple brands of ice cream because there is the potential the products could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

So far, no illnesses have been reported. Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, or those with weakened immune systems.

Products were shipped nationwide, and Totally Cool ceased production and distribution of the affected products after the Food & Drug Administration discovered the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in a sampling.

Totally Cool’s investigation into the possible contamination is ongoing.

A complete list of the recalled products can be found here.
