KEENE, N.H. — C&S Wholesale Grocers on Thursday said it would close a Dunmore, Pa. warehouse serving A&P stores, saying the retailer’s decision to take back distribution of health and beauty products and housewares serviced by the facility forced the decision to close.

Around 200 employees will be affected by the closure, set to begin in September, C&S told state officials. The Dunmore facility is a former A&P warehouse that an affiliate of C&S took over in 2006.

A&P took back HBC distribution when it rejected a distribution contract with C&S as part of the retailer’s bankruptcy proceedings.

C&S said affected employees, including 165 workers represented by the Teamsters union, would be able to apply to other C&S facilities in Pennsylvania.
