INDIANAPOLIS — Marsh Supermarkets said Thursday it has committed $60,000 for a 9/11 memorial here in its headquarters city.

Project 9/11 Indianapolis, at 421 West Ohio St., is a permanent sculpture built from two steel beams from the World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The memorial will be dedicated in a ceremony this Sunday on the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

"Marsh is honored to lend its support to this important civic project, which is both a monument to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and to those brave men and women who were part of the search and rescue efforts in the crucial days following those events," said Joe Kelley, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Marsh Supermarkets.

In addition the financial contribution, Marsh employees raised money for the project by volunteering at an Indiana State Fair booth where they sold custom designed Project 9/11 postcards and commemorative T-shirts supplied by the Indianapolis Fire Department. That effort raised over $23,500.
