OKLAHOMA CITY — The Crescent Market here, known as the oldest grocery store in Oklahoma, will close later this month, according to local press reports.

Crescent was founded 122 years ago following the Oklahoma Land Run, and has run by members of the Pemberton family since 1942. It has occupied its current location since 1948.

Owner Robert Pemberton told the Oklahoman newspaper that competition from a newly opened Sunflower Market had impacted business at the store.
