LUDLOW, Vt. — Shaw's here said Friday that it's flood-damaged store here remains closed, but the chain is setting up a temporary outdoor store to offer "essential items" to local customers.
The temporary store will be ready within the next few days, a spokesman for Shaw's parent company, Minneapolis-based Supervalu, told SN.
"Additionally, we are encouraging area residents to utilize our Springfield, Vt., Shaw's for additional needs at this time," the spokesman told SN.
The Ludlow location was the only Shaw's store that could not reopen soon after Tropical Storm Irene hit the chain's New England markets, causing widespread flooding, particularly in Vermont, where Shaw's operates 19 locations.
