A Defense Against Poison Ivy

Tec Laboratories, Albany, Ore., has developed Poison Oak-N-Ivy Armor Pre-Exposure Lotion, a companion product to its Tecnu Poison Oak-N-Ivy Cleansing Treatment. Armor lotion acts as a temporary, invisible barrier on the skin to help prevent exposure. It is available in 2-ounce, flip-top bottles.

Alcohol Gel Stops Disease Spread

Tweezerman Corp., Glen Cove, N.Y., has unveiled a hand sanitizer called Alco-Gel to help stop the spread of hand-transmitted diseases. The product, which contains alcohol in gel form in a 2-ounce size, is a hypo-allergenic disinfectant with a 99.9% kill rate against a broad range of pathogenic microorganisms. It air-dries quickly, with no washing, toweling or rinsing necessary.

Baking Soda Sensodyne Debuts

Sensodyne Toothpaste with Baking Soda is available from Block Drug Corp., Jersey City, N.J. The toothpaste contains 25% sodium bicarbonate to help clean teeth and gums, as well as potassium nitrate for pain relief from sensitivity to cold, heat, acids, sweets or contact, and sodium fluoride to help prevent cavities.

Lens Care Takes Five Minutes

Ciba Vision Corp., Duluth, Ga., has received FDA approval to market a lens care system that is claimed to clean and disinfect soft contact lenses in five minutes.
