KETCHUM, Idaho — Funeral services are scheduled here Tuesday for Douglas B. ("Buzz") Bradshaw, founder of Bradshaw Inc., once one of the largest food brokerages in the Western U.S. Bradshaw died Monday at his home here at the age of 101.
Bradhsaw spent his early life working in his parents' honey business, R.D. Bradshaw & Sons, Wendell, Idaho. When that business was sold to Sioux Honey Assocation, Sioux City, Iowa, in 1964 it was reportedly the largest independent honey-producing and packing business in the U.S.
In 1966 Bradshaw and his two sons, Doug and Ben, purchased a Los Angeles food brokerage and renamed it Bradshaw Inc., which grew to employ more than 800 sales representatives. The family sold the business in 1997 and developed Bradshaw International — a marketer of kitchenware — among other businesses.
Bradshaw is survived by his wife of 77 years, Myrle; his two sons, and seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
