SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Funeral services are pending here for George R. Wong, son of the founder of Bel Air Markets here, which is now part of the Raley's Supermarkets chain.

Wong died Sunday evening, industry sources told SN.

The Wong family were produce growers until 1955, when they decided to expand the family business by opening a supermarket. Wong, the third-oldest son, served as president and chief executive officer until 1992, when the 17-store chain was sold to Raley's.
