SN Presents Awards for Marketing, Diversity, Community Service

ORLANDO, Fla. — Supermarket News presented its 2009 Marketer of the Year Award to Joe Sheridan, executive vice president, Wakefern Food Corp., at a banquet here on the first day of FMI’s Midwinter Executive Conference.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Supermarket News presented its 2009 Marketer of the Year Award to Joe Sheridan, executive vice president, Wakefern Food Corp., at a banquet here on the first day of FMI’s Midwinter Executive Conference.

SN also presented its Community Service Award to Publix Super Markets, and the Champion of Diversity Award to Safeway.

The awards were presented by Jerry Rymont, SN publisher, at the 10th annual Friends of the Industry Dinner, a social gathering that also has a charitable mission. The dinner has now surpassed the $500,000 mark in contributions to causes.

Friends Dinner organizers also presented “Founders Awards” to Steve Smith, K-VA-T; Norman Rich, Weis Markets; Robert Piccinini, Save Mart; Richard Anicetti, Food Lion; William Macaloney, JAX Markets; and the Kroger Co.
