EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here has run into some glitches with the rollout of its new "Friends" loyalty-card program, according to reports.
"What we found is that some cards, the mag stripes just aren't standing up," a company spokesman was quoted as telling the Orange County Register this week.
The Friends card allows shoppers to earn one point for every dollar they spend, and then earn a $1 cash reward when they reach 100 points. Customers can also earn targeted bonus points based on purchase history.
According to the report, some shoppers were issued a "bad batch" of loyalty cards and were having difficulty redeeming their rewards when they swiped their cards at the checkout. Replacement cards were being issued at the stores.
