Stop & Shop launches online dietitian program

Nutrition Partners service offers customers virtual consultations

With more customers preparing meals at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Stop & Shop has introduced a free online dietitian program called Nutrition Partners.

The new service, launched Tuesday, enables Stop & Shop shoppers to connect with licensed registered dietitians in a virtual nutrition consultation and receive guidance on making healthier food choices. The Quincy, Mass.-based supermarket chain said its team of dietitians also will offer free online webinars, educational resources such as newsletters, and easy recipes to make at home.

One-on-one online consultations through Stop & Shop Nutrition Partners provide individual discussions covering topics such as weight loss, healthy meal planning and meal preparation on a budget. Weekly nutrition webinars will focus on subjects like heart-healthy eating and planning meals for picky eaters, while educational resources available via the Stop & Shop website will address topics such as food allergies, better-for-you food shopping lists and gluten-free living.

Educational resources available via the Stop & Shop website address topics such as food allergies, better-for-you food shopping lists and gluten-free living, among others.

The Stop & Shop Nutrition Partners service also will host regular cooking demonstrations that provide healthy recipes for meals and snacks, such as turkey burgers and energy balls, along with tips about cooking on a budget with minimal ingredients. The videos will be posted on Stop & Shop’s website and social channels.

“Supporting health and wellness in our communities is incredibly important to us, and we’re so proud to be able to offer this valuable service to our customers at no cost,” Stop & Shop President Gordon Reid said in a statement. “We’re excited to launch Stop & Shop Nutrition Partners online at a time when so many of our customers are spending more time at home and cooking more of their own meals. We look forward to launching the program in-stores as well, once it is safe to do so.”

Stop & Shop noted that the Nutrition Partners program gives customers direct access to dietitians to discuss food- and nutrition-related questions and get answers to questions on starting or maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. Participating dietitians also can be reached via email at [email protected].
