Stop & Shop said it chose the Grove Hall store for the health-focused remodel because of high rates of nutrition-related chronic conditions and elevated food insecurity in the surrounding area.
The upgraded store, located in the Grove Hall neighborhood of Boston, reopened this past Friday.
The store houses a community wellness space for events and programming and offers in-house dietitian services.
Healthy foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables are highlighted in the store.
The Grove Hall store also offers the Guiding Stars nutrition label program, which helps shoppers find better-for-you foods and products tailored for special diets.
