The 20 Best-Selling Video Games in 1998 (Titles Ranked by Unit Sales)
64 and Sony PlayStation increased 73% in units and 51% in dollars, according to NPD Group, Port Washington, N.Y. In this list of the best-selling titles in 1998, eight are for Nintendo 64, while 12 are for Sony PlayStation. The "Zelda" game sold 2.1 million units since its November release and attained second place. The first-place "Goldeneye" game sold 2.3 million units. Fourteen of the top 20 titles were introduced in 1998, indicating that the game business is hit driven, said NPD.
