New Campbell’s Select Harvest Soup Makes a “Clean Sweep” Over Progresso

After Comparing Ingredients, Two Out of Three People Would Rather Serve Campbell's Select Harvest Chicken Noodle Soup to Their Families Over Progresso

CAMDEN, NJ, October 22, 2008 - Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) today unveiled research that shows people would rather serve Campbell's® Select Harvest™ Chicken Noodle soup to their families over the same variety from Progresso.

In a nationwide study conducted by Pinnacle Marketing Management1, people were shown the ingredients for both Campbell's Select Harvest Chicken with Egg Noodles and Progresso Chicken Noodle, and asked which they would prefer. Respondents overwhelmingly chose Campbell's Select Harvest. In fact, two out of three people said they would rather eat and serve their families the Campbell's variety2 over Progresso.

The 44 varieties of Campbell's Select Harvest soups contain the kind of ingredients people would look for if they were making their own soups, such as 100 percent natural chicken, 100 percent natural clams, 100 percent natural chicken stock and 100 percent natural sea salt.

Unlike most Progresso soups, no Select Harvest soup contains MSG.3 Additionally, they never contain artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup, or hydrogenated oils. Plus, all Select Harvest soups meet the "healthy" guidelines for sodium at 480 mg per serving, with 29 varieties considered "heart healthy."

"The back of the label is the new focus for an increasing number of people," said Michael Barkley, Vice President, Marketing at Campbell Soup Company. "We know people are paying more attention to labels because they want to be aware of what is, and is not, in their foods. Creating delicious soups that people can feel good about eating was our focus in making Select Harvest. We encourage people to compare any variety of Select Harvest soups for real ingredients and real taste side-by-side with any Progresso soup. We are confident that our great-tasting, high-quality ingredients speak for themselves."
