United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1518 in British Columbia did not launch a strike against Safeway, as reported in SN last week in a story on Southern California labor negotiations. The union had rejected the chain's "final offer" and scheduled a strike to begin Sept. 22, the date of SN's publication, but opted to vote on a new offer after SN went to press.
