Liz served on many board-level committees including the investment, finance, public affairs, member services, strategic planning and executive committees. From 1993 to 1995 Liz co-chaired FMI's board task force on managing diversity. She served as FMI's vice chair of finance from 1997 to 1999 and its vice chair of member services from 2002 to 2003. She is also a member of the advisory board of the FMI Foundation, which promotes food-safety awareness throughout the industry.
Local affiliations: actively involved in Dallas-Fort Worth community groups, often assuming top roles. Organizations include United Way, Better Business Bureau, Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Goodwill Industries of Dallas, North Texas Food Bank, Leukemia Association of North Central Texas and Dallas Urban League.
Company history: Liz and Gretchen are second-generation leaders of the retail operation founded in 1932 by five Minyard brothers and a sister who launched the business with a single store in the midst of the Depression. The company has employed Liz full time since the mid-1970s.
