INDIANAPOLIS -- Marsh Supermarkets here reported an increase in sales and a net profit for the second quarter ended Oct. 10.
mp-store sales increased 3.5% for the quarter. Comp-store figures for the 28-week period were not available, and the company did not release same-store figures.
Marsh reported a profit of $2.5 million for the quarter and a 16% profit increase to $5.5 million for the 28 weeks. The company said that in last year's second quarter it restructured its debt, incurring an extraordinary charge of $3.3 million that resulted in a net loss of $1.5 million.
Operating income rose 15% to $8.5 million for the quarter and 18.9% to $18.6 million for the year to date, Marsh reported.
