MINNEAPOLIS -- Nash Finch here said sales in its 12-week first quarter increased 2.8% to $618.2 million, a record for the diversified wholesaler and retailer.

"The severe weather conditions, which affected much of the Midwest during January and February, also had a negative impact on wholesale and retail operations in those areas," Finch said.
Nash Finch supplies about 700 supermarkets as well as 5,000 other independent retailers and military bases in 31 states. The company also owns and operates approximately 125 stores in 15 states.
