QFC Mulls More Pharmacies
ality Food Centers here is looking at adding pharmacies to at least some of its 40 food stores. QFC entered the pharmacy business earlier this year when it acquired a store with a pharmacy in Sequim, Wash. At its annual meeting in mid-April, QFC also said it plans to double the number of stores it currently operates in the Puget Sound area, although no time frame to achieve such a goal was specified.
Giant Food Enters Delaware
LANDOVER, Md. -- Giant Food opened its first store in Delaware April 20 under the name Super G. Located at the Eden Square Shopping Center in Bear, this is Giant's first venture outside its marketing area of Maryland, Virginia and Washington. The food store includes a pharmacy that has a private counseling room adjacent to the pharmacy counter.
Pathmark Adds Super Drug Unit
STRATFORD, Conn. -- Pathmark Stores, Woodbridge, N.J., opened its third Pathmark Super Drug Discount store with a pharmacy here April 30. The 48,000-square-foot discount store replaces a conventional Pathmark supermarket. The other two Super Drug stores are located in Danbury and Newington, Conn.
