As an executive of a food manufacturer in my former career, and as a broker currently, I have much experience dealing with slotting. Your article does a great job of identifying the arguments on both sides of the issue. One point that may have been overlooked is the issue of whether or not food prices are already higher than they might be without slotting, because manufacturers take it into account when they price their goods.
