United Show Floor Looking Good

I'll admit, heading out here I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the United Fresh Show's FreshTech and Marketplace expo this year. It's a down economy, a lot of companies are cutting back on travel budgets, and it's the first time since 2004 that the show hasn't been co-located with FMI's expo (which has switched to an every-other-year format). But, traffic on the show floor looked healthy on both Wednesday and Thursday.

One great innovation this year was the "Produce Traceability Demo Center" which was hosted by 13 companies offering electronic traceability tools to help growers, packers and shippers comply with the Produce Traceability Initiative. I plan to post more in depth on that later, but just a quick note here, the new area looked busy every time I was on the floor, and the suppliers that I spoke with seemed really pleased with turnout and interest.

Anyway, click the photo on the left to see a short slideshow of a few snapshots from the show floor.
