Weis Markets on Wednesday announced that Richard Gunn has joined the company as SVP of merchandising and marketing. In this position, Gunn will oversee the company’s fresh and center store merchandising, sales and procurement, marketing and advertising.
Gunn reports to Kurt Schertle, COO of the Sunbury, Pa.-based chain. Schelte held the position of merchandising EVP at Weis until his promotion a year ago.
Gunn has more than 30 years of food retail experience. Prior to joining Weis, he was EVP of merchandising and marketing at K-VA-T Food Stores, Abingdon, Va. Earlier in his career, he worked in various store and regional positions before moving into marketing and merchandising positions where he held increasingly senior positions.
