SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets’ senior nutritionist, Ellie Wilson, R.D., M.S. hosted a nutrition and wellness Facebook chat Thursday.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wilson responded to dozens of questions about gluten-free living, weight control, heart-healthy foods and other topics. Among the questions:
- ”Is store bought hummus healthy?”
Wilson’s response: “Store bought hummus is a good choice. It has great fiber, healthy oils and delicious spices.”
- “I would like to know if adding a tablespoon of cocoa powder to my cup of coffee once or twice a day will give me the benefits of eating chocolate?”
Wilson’s response: “Adding a tablespoon of cacao powder to your cup of coffee is a fun and smart idea.”
- “Is it true that 100% black cherry juice helps with gout symptoms?
Wilson’s response: “Unfortunately, there is not a lot of evidence at this time that black cherry juice can reduce gout symptoms.”
