Hy-Vee offers kids free advice from personal trainer

Kids have access to a free online personal trainer under a new wellness initiative at Hy-Vee.

Hy-Vee KidsFit is a five-week at-home health and wellness challenge for kids and teens. Participants record workouts, take quizzes and participate in family activities. They can earn trophies and badges for participating in and completing daily activities.

“Hy-Vee KidsFit help provide kids the tools to learn why it is important to make your personal health a priority,” the West Des Moines-based company states in promotional materials.

Participants get online access to “Daira,” a certified personal trainer who has been a fitness coach for 10 years. Daira will offer nutrition and exercise tips, as well as access to workout videos.

“I have trained kids as young as 6 and adults as old as 84,” Daira writes in her bio on the www.hy-veekidsfit.com website. “I want kids to see that fitness is fun and show you how to make it a part of your daily routine so you can be healthy for life.”
