Costco Adds Drug Information Kiosks in Ontario

Costco Wholesale Corp, Issaquah, Wash., has installed Aisle7 interactive kiosks, containing self-care education content on generic and brand name drugs as well as other drug information, at 25 pharmacies.

ONTARIO, Canada — Costco Wholesale Corp, Issaquah, Wash., has installed Aisle7 interactive kiosks, containing self-care education content on generic and brand name drugs as well as other drug information, at 25 pharmacies here.

The move is part of an effort to expand assisted shopper services of the pharmacy and promote monthly health events, said Rick Duffy, assistant vice president pharmacy, eastern division U.S. and Canada, in a prepared statement.

An Aisle7 spokesman said this was the first time Costco has used Aisle7 products and services in a pilot test in Canada. Aisle7 licenses its health information content such as Healthnotes, a guide to health conditions, vitamins and supplements and prescription and over-the-counter drugs. The kiosks are sold outright. The company also provides customized services for retailers to promote and market health and wellness throughout the store.

Costco's Duffy could not be reached for further comment.
