E. Coli Outbreak Spurs Recall

Fairbanks Farms, Asheville, N.Y., yesterday issued a voluntary recall for more than 545,000 pounds of ground beef, after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established a possible link between a cluster of E. coli illnesses in Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts and beef produced by the company on Sept. 14-16, 2009.

NEW YORK — Fairbanks Farms, Asheville, N.Y., yesterday issued a voluntary recall for more than 545,000 pounds of ground beef, after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established a possible link between a cluster of E. coli illnesses in Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts and beef produced by the company on Sept. 14-16, 2009.
