Safeway Delivers Facebook Users Exclusive Coupons

Safeway has begun offering coupons exclusively to its Facebook fans.

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway has begun offering coupons exclusively to its Facebook fans.

Facebook fans were able to get a 16-ounce Safeway Select Artisan French bread for 25 cents last week. The print-at-home coupon, which ran Sept. 28 – Oct. 2, was limited to the first 20,000 customers. The deal required a $10 minimum purchase and was valid between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“If the savings, online coupons, blog posts and discussions with fellow fans weren’t enough, we are now featuring Facebook exclusive offers too,” Safeway’s blogger, Kate, wrote.

Safeway posted a message on Facebook thanking everyone who participated, and hinting that more offers are in the works. “The response was incredible; we’re already planning lots of other great savings events,” Safeway wrote. “We hope you’ll participate!”

While some shoppers cited difficulties printing the offer, overall Facebook response seemed favorable. “Loved the bread coupon,” Joni, one Facebook fan, wrote. “Got an Artisan olive loaf for 25. I will SO check back for more!" Safeway has nearly 30,000 Facebook fans.
