WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets here said it has opened its first fuel center in the Syracuse, N.Y., market as part of a $3.5 million store renovation in Baldwinsville.

The 50,000-square-foot store also now includes a new bulk foods department, a health and beauty department, natural and organic sections and full-service meat and seafood departments. It also added four self-checkout lanes, an enhanced Tops Carry Out Café and a Tim Hortons self-serve kiosk for coffee and baked goods.

The store will be part of the chain’s Gas BonusPoints program, through which customers earn 10 cents off per gallon for every $100 spent on groceries using the Tops BonusCard.

“We identified Baldwinsville as one of our central New York locations that would benefit from a major store renovation and the addition of our first area fueling station,” said Frank Curci, Tops’ president and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement. Tops has 134 supermarkets in New York and Pennsylvania.
