Meijer Names Symancyk President

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer Inc. here said Tuesday it has named Mark Murray co-chief executive officer and elevated J.K. Symancyk to president of the supercenter operator.

Murray will be co-chief executive officer with Hank Meijer and will continue as vice-chairman of the company’s board of directors. Symancyk, who joined the company in 2006 as vice president of perishables, most recently had been chief operating officer. The changes are effective Feb. 3

"Having worked with J.K. in his different roles here at Meijer, we are very confident he is the right leader to help continue our path of growth and expansion," Hank Meijer said. "We are also delighted that Mark Murray will remain a valuable partner in the continued growth of Meijer. Mark and his team have done a tremendous job and have positioned Meijer well for the future."
