PRESIDENT GIANT FOOD STORES

Though Giant has been in business and serving local communities for 96 years, the past 18 months have been the most innovative and game changing in its history, courtesy of Nicholas Bertram, who took the reins of the Carlisle, Pa.-based chain in January 2018. Under Bertram’s leadership, Giant successfully launched two new brands: Giant Heirloom Market and Giant Direct, alongside a two-year $70 million strategic growth initiative announced in 2018. As part of its growth strategy, Giant is entering new markets and acquiring select independents whose stores fit with its geographic footprint. As someone who started his career as a part-time grocery stocker and rose through the ranks before becoming Giant’s president at the impressively young age of 38, Bertram has seen and done it all in the grocery business. His hands-on approach and leadership philosophy has inspired the team at Giant to strive for greater success than ever before. Under Bertram’s leadership, Giant has recaptured its mojo, evident in increased sales and market share.
