Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co. here has named Richard Farrell vice president of information services, a new position.
Farrell, who joined the voluntary wholesaler in 1993 as director of information services, supervises a 35-member technical staff in his new role.
He will be responsible for all Piggly Wiggly's technological projects, with an emphasis on automated grocery ordering and front-end scanning systems.
Girrbach Joins Retail Systems
NAPLES, Fla. -- Claudia Girrbach has joined Retail Systems Consulting here.
Girrbach brings to the position several years' experience as vice president of information technology for Lucky Stores, a subsidiary of American Stores, Salt Lake City. Prior to joining the company, she provided consulting services through her own firm.
At Retail Systems, Girrbach provides a wide range of services with a focus on helping retailers build their own transaction switches for electronic payments processing.
