Nash Finch Names Petersen Retail operations President

. Petersen has been named executive vice president and president of retail operations. He succeeds Art Keeney, who has left the company. Keeney's title was senior vice president, corporate retail stores. Petersen was formerly president and chief operating officer of Baker's Supermarkets, Omaha, Neb., a 20-store chain that has been sold to Kroger Co., Cincinnati. At Nash Finch he will oversee a base of 119 stores, which operate under the banners of Econofoods, Sun Mart and Family Thrift Center.

Nash Finch also said it has named Laura Stein, general counsel of the H.J. Heinz Co., Pittsburgh, to its board of directors. In addition, the company has named Rose Bailey, previously director of human resource programs at Arcadia Financial, vice president of human resources, and Deborah O'Halloran, previously senior vice president at Kinnard Investments, senior director of communications.

Fleming Moves Hernandez Up to Senior VP, General counsel

DALLAS -- Fleming here said it has promoted Carlos M. Hernandez to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. He previously served the company as associate general counsel and assistant secretary. Hernandez succeeds Leonore Graham, who is leaving the company. Hernandez will report Mark Hansen, Fleming chairman and chief executive officer.

Jewel Osco Promotes Gentile to Senior VP of marketing

MELROSE PARK, Ill. -- Jewel Osco here said last week it has named Jim Gentile senior vice president of marketing and merchandising. Previously, he was vice president of general merchandise and grocery merchandising. Succeeding Gentile in that position is Ed Hanson, previously director of grocery merchandising.

Giant Food Opts for Marriott as northern Region VP

LANDOVER, Md. -- Giant Food here said last week it has named Bill Marriott regional vice president of operations for the company's Northern store operations. Marriott previously held the position of a district manager. He succeeds Jim Frazetti, who is retiring.

Another Hat for Cirivello

MILAN, Ill. -- Eagle Food Centers here said last week it has named Jill Cirivello vice president of human resources. Previously, Cirivello served as senior counsel for the company, and will continue to serve as general counsel.
