SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Harps Food Stores made shopping fun for the young with a Kid's Week sale.

The one-week promotion was held last month and featured savings on a variety of childhood favorites, such as peanut butter and jelly and macaroni & cheese. In addition, products including Pepsi-Cola and chocolate milk were sampled in store. Games and contests, such as an Oreo-stacking competition, were held in each of the company's 21 locations.

"This was a terrific promotion," said Karen Ramsey, assistant advertising manager. "We have tons of kids coming through our stores; generally 'mom' ends up spending more than anticipated when she has 'help' shopping."

Among the items featured were Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, two boxes for $1.00, and assorted Hershey candy bars, four for $1.00.

Beverage items featured were Kool-Aid Kool Bursts, $1.38 per six pack and Capri Sun drinks, $1.97 a 10-pack. Frozen department items included Mr. Freeze bars at $2.28 for a 72-count box.
