REDMOND, Wash. -- AT&T here is offering National Prepaid Wireless, allowing consumers to pay in advance for their wireless calls across the nation, with no roaming or long-distance charges.

ogram includes an Ericsson LX799 Digital phone that retails for $129, and works with AT&T's wireless-services network.

The multinetwork phone (able to operate on other carriers' networks) is ready to use right out of the box and comes preloaded with 15 minutes of calling time. A 15-minute refill card is included, plus a mail-in coupon for another 60 minutes of airtime.

AT&T 30-, 60-, 120- and 240-minute refill cards are sold at AT&T retail outlets. They can also be ordered by calling an 800 number and using a credit card. The per-minute charge for domestic calls using a 240-minute refill card is as low as 42 cents, AT&T said.
