BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Riser Foods here achieved record results for the third quarter -- its 10th consecutive quarter of record sales -- and 40 weeks ended April 6.

Anthony C. Rego, chairman and chief executive, stated, "We are quite pleased with the progress of programs initiated to enhance the performance of our operations. While the improvement in our earnings began in the first quarter of fiscal 1995, the groundwork for that improvement was laid several years earlier." Easter holiday sales, which occurred in the last week of the third quarter, helped lift results, as did a strong retail performance and new wholesale customers, notably the 102 Phar-Mor stores Riser supplies in the East, he explained.
