7-Eleven customers will now receive a free medium coffee after tracking six coffee purchases of any size in the retailer’s app.

Each time a customer buys a coffee, the cashier will scan a barcode in the app. After six scans, a coupon for a free medium coffee will appear in the app.

“You’ve heard of a baker’s dozen, 13 for the price of 12,” Nancy Smith, SVP of fresh foods and proprietary beverages, said in a statement. “Consider this a brewer’s half-dozen, seven cups of coffee for the price of six. Many of our coffee customers are regulars, so they could earn a free medium cup as often as once a week, or more if they come in more than once a day.”

The retailer will also offer a small coffee for 50 cents from Sept. 3-14 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the invention of coffee to go at a 7-Eleven franchise.

7-Eleven says coffee is the top-selling self-serve beverage in its stores. The retailer sells more than one million cups of coffee daily.
