Albertsons launches direct-to-consumer specialty wines brand
The brand, Vine & Cellar, is sold only online in California and offers wines that range from $10 to over $1,000 a bottle
Albertsons has launched a new direct-to-consumer brand of wines, some of which cost over $1,000 per bottle.
Wines within the brand Vine & Cellar are only available online, and only in California. Shoppers in California can access Vine & Cellar through the Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions websites and mobile apps under the “featured” category, with shipping estimated to take one to three business days. In a statement, Albertsons said it plans to further expand the assortment.
The wines, which are “expertly curated,” have an assortment of wine varietals and global wine regions.
“Our team has tasted thousands of wines from Sancerre to Burgundy to Napa Valley so our customers can enjoy the tannin, body, and fruit of old world and new world vintages – all conveniently shipped to their doorsteps,” said Curtis Mann, master of wine and group vice president alcohol for Albertsons Cos.
All wines from the brand are individually selected by Mann and his buying team. Mann is also one of only 60 “Masters of Wine” in the country, according to Albertsons.
The Vine & Cellar collection expands Albertsons Cos.’ wine portfolio, which includes the company’s private label Vinaforé, Signature Reserve, O Organics, and Kaylana wines.
