Schnuck Markets has begun offering delivery of beer, wine and spirits for customers ordering online in Missouri and Illinois.

The St. Louis-based regional grocer said Wednesday that the service, which delivers orders in as soon as one hour, is provided through its Schnucks Delivers online grocery program, powered by Instacart.

Both Missouri and Illinois permit delivery of alcoholic beverages, Schnucks noted. The retailer said customers accepting deliveries of beer, wine or liquor must be age 21 or older and present valid identification.

Alcohol delivery also will be subject to a service fee that covers the additional cost of ensuring compliant delivery of alcohol products and ID verification. The fee ranges from $2 for orders with less than $35 of alcohol to $10 for ordera including more than $110 of alcohol. Available seven days a week, Schnucks Delivers offers online grocery delivery for as low as $3.99 (plus applicable fees) and free for orders of $35 or more for those enrolling in the Express service.

Schnucks added that customers interested in more information on beer, wine and spirits products can sign up to receive The Proof Newsletter, which helps them navigate the supermarket chain’s selection of adult beverages and alerts them about exclusive in-store and Schnucks-sponsored events.

“Since we launched Schnucks Delivers more than two years ago, many shoppers have requested that we add their favorite adult beverages to the platform,” Ryan Cuba, chief business development and transformation officer at Schnucks, said in a statement. “The expansion of products available through Schnucks Delivers is another way that we’re helping our customers better manage their busy lifestyles.”

Schnucks launched Schnucks Delivers with Instacart in the St. Louis area in February 2017 and now offers online grocery delivery to homes and businesses in all the market areas it serves. The chain operates 119 stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa.on
