Last week I reported on some West Coast developments, and mentioned an independent operator at the end of the post.

Today we’re going to feature him: Meet Andy Bachich, owner of Andy’s Local Market in San Rafael, Calif. He and his family have operated the 16,000-square-foot store for the past six years.

Like any independent operators, though, Bachich is always looking to grow. He found his chance last year, when he snapped up the shuttered Sun Valley Market on the other side of town. The neighborhood fixture shut down in 2010.

After a $2 million renovation and grand opening last summer, Bachich finally found some free time to take us on a virtual tour of the 3,500-square-foot Andy's Sun Valley Market.
