NEW YORK — D’Agostino Supermarkets is taking part in a QR (quick-response) code pilot linked to the re-launch of Delverde Pasta and driven by Augme Technologies here.
Beginning this week, the two-dimensional codes that can be read by a scanner-equipped smart phone, will appear on shelf talkers in 18 D’Agostino stores.
Once scanned, shoppers can access Delverde recipes and wine pairings based on their specific entertaining needs, whether they be casual, formal, healthy, romantic, or include outdoor dining.
The shelf talkers also feature instructions for shoppers who don't have a scanner. The same tools can be reached by texting “SHARE” or “SAVOR” to 30333.
Upon the test’s completion at the end of the winter holidays, Delverde will marry POS data with information related to shopper engagement with the content. But driving sales and brand loyalty are just some of its objectives. Familiarizing shoppers with the technology is another goal.
“It wants to get the consumer to start seeing this and understand that there is a content reward behind the code,” David Apple, chief marketing officer of Augme Technologies, told SN.
