Grasso Moves to Jitney-Jungle
Jungle Stores of America based here has appointed Phillip Grasso to the newly created position of vice president of deli operations. He is responsible for the procurement, merchandising and marketing of the department. Additionally, he will supervise the overall operation of the company's delis in more than 200 stores in six states.
Most recently, Grasso was affiliated with Wakefern Food Corporation, Elizabeth, N.J., where he consulted with operators and members of the wholesale cooperative on retail food service and supermarket fresh meals programs.
Sysco Appoints Deck, Graham
HOUSTON -- Sysco Corporation, the food-service industry distribution company based here, has made two appointments at regional distribution centers in the Southeast.
Walter Deck was named president of Sysco Food Services of Southeast Florida, located in Riviera Beach. He succeeds Gordon Graham, who is transferring to become president of the company's operating unit in Atlanta.
Prior to the appointment, effective September 1, Deck was executive vice president of Hardin's-Sysco Food Services in Memphis, Tenn.
Graham, the new president of the Atlanta operation, succeeds Larry Accardi, who is assuming the position of senior vice president of operation for Sysco's Northeast region. Graham joined Sysco in 1971 in Kansas City, Mo., in the warehouse and delivery departments, and was promoted through the years to positions of increasing responsibility in various departments, including sales and merchandising and procurement.
La Spisa Gets New Carlisle Role
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Carlisle Foodservice Products here has appointed Deidre La Spisa national accounts manager.
In her new role, La Spisa will be responsible for managing selected national account business and aiding in developing new business. Prior to this, she was affiliated with Hormel and IBP. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University.
The company also appointed Kurt Bernhardt as associate product manager, responsible for the Carlisle's bars & accessories, buffet & catering, bar supplies, and storage & handling product lines.
Prior to this, Berhardt was with SemaSys, a merchandising signing products company. He holds an MBA from the University of Oklahoma.
The company has promoted Jackie King to the position of customer service manager. She will be responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Carlisle's customer service department. She joined the company three years ago.
Farm Fresh Names Sales Manager
HOLLANDALE, Miss. -- Farm Fresh Catfish Company has appointed Gary Vineyard regional sales manager, responsible for retail and food-service sales in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. Farm Fresh is a processor, marketer and distributor of pond-raised catfish.
Before this, he was director of sales for Dorey Fish Company, a subsidiary of Odom's Tennessee Pride Sausage, for six years. Farm Fresh acquired the Dorey Company in June.
Before that, he was director of specialty sales for Odom's, which he joined in 1986. He began his career with Martha White/Beatrice Foods, where he spent 12 years in a number of sales positions.
