Jones Beverages International, a subsidiary of Jones Soda Co., has debuted its new premium non-carbonated blended beverage brand, Lemoncocco.

Lemoncocco represents an entirely new beverage category that was inspired by the distinctive refreshment stands found along the streets of Rome, Italy, say company officials. Flavored with the extracts of Sicilian lemons and a splash of coconut cream, Lemoncocco is a natural beverage, lightly sweetened with a touch of cane sugar. It has only 90 calories per 12 ounce serving, and is dairy- and gluten-free.

Quietly launched in 2015 in the San Francisco and Seattle markets, Lemoncocco has been strategically distributed by Italian distributors. Following the success of this quiet launch, Lemoncocco will now expand into more North American markets throughout 2016.

“We are very excited to bring this classic Italian refresher to North America,” says Jennifer Cue, CEO of Jones Soda Co. “When I tasted the beverage for myself and saw the enthusiasm for this drink in Rome, I realized the potential of this unique beverage back home. Our version of Lemoncocco is less sweet than that found in Rome and to me is more on trend with evolving tastes of the North American palate. While this refreshing blend is a natural choice for patrons of Italian restaurants and specialty shops, it is a perfect pairing for any type of lunch or dinner. And since Lemoncocco makes an excellent mixer for cocktails, it is great for happy hour as well.”

Lemoncocco will also partner with Italian car maker FIAT to offer Lemoncocco to consumers who test drive FIAT vehicles, utilize Lemoncocco branded FIATS and participate at various co-branded events in North America.

Lemoncocco will officially launch at the 2016 Fancy Food Show in San Francisco Jan. 17–19.
