Wakefern Food Corp. has expanded its roster of store brands with the new ShopRite Trading Company gourmet and specialty food line.

The retailer-owned cooperative said ShopRite Trading Company is inspired by international flavors and brings premium, artisanal foods — including imported and domestically sourced items — to its more than 270 ShopRite stores in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. The brand also is sold online through the ShopRite from Home service.

ShopRite Trading Company foods and flavors have been imported from Italy, Ecuador, Spain and Greece, while other products in the line provide a taste of Asian, Indian, Greek and Latin cuisines.

“Customers will find premium, imported products, including arugula wood-fired crust pizza and specialty desserts like cranberry panettone and pandoro from Italy, marinated artichoke hearts from Peru, and extra virgin olive oil from Greece,” according to ShopRite spokeswoman Karen Meleta.

In-store signage and shelf tags will inform shoppers about the new ShopRite Trading Company products. The company said certain products previously marketed under the ShopRite Imported, ShopRite Special Edition and Siempre Autentico private labels will also be converted to ShopRite Trading Company.

The new label joins ShopRite’s other own brands, including its Wholesome Pantry brand, an organic and clean ingredient product line launched in 2016.
